HEDL 7377 – Leadership of Higher Education Institutions
During the Fall 2020 semester, I taught a doctoral seminar on Leadership of Higher Education Institutions (HEDL 7377). As part of this course, doctoral students were introduced to the idea of gratefulness as a leadership quality. Using the ideas of spiritual scholar and Benedictine monk, Brother David Steindl-Rast, students completed an exercise developed by Br. Steindl-Rast called the “ABCs of Gratefulness”. This activity was completed early in the term so that scholars could reflect on what truly matters to them during their continued pandemic work and school environments.
